While at university I wrote a thesis about international child labour. I decided for the second time to follow my instinct and to do something important for myself and as well as for others. I had also mastered the Spanish language and spent a year travelling Latin America (Peru, Bolivia, Brazil and Argentina).
I had decided to find out for myself the trials and tribulations of children that have to work. I had already discovered that photography is the perfect way to connect with life as it is , let the pictures tell the stories. I linked my academic world with the realistic world.
During my travels I made contact with the children that live on the streets and work in all different kinds of jobs and once again took photos of the hands and faces of the children. I also Interviewed them letting them tell me in their own words how they feel and what they think about childhood labour and their own individual life situations and what thoughts they have about themselves.
Their faces and life stories stay with me to this day and from this unforgettable experience came my second exhibition “Lima, Peru’,Los Ángeles de la Calle”.
