In 2003 I was working as a volunteer for a charity project, I had with me my father’s old Olympus OM10 camera, pre digital!
We were based in a village called Ol Moran. I was moved so much by the people of this village . I wanted to capture and document their beauty and warmth and show my own community in Italy how different their lives are.
I set about taking photos of their faces, hands and feet and interviewing them recording their voices with the old system from my father’s camera, I wanted them to be seen and heard as they are, without judgement and any interference and unadulterated by our way of existence; Observing from the outside.
I took photos of 20 people from different tribes and religions all of them from that little village, OI Moran in Kenya.
I produced my first exhibition with these photos on my return, my first step into photography and my first exhibition, “Ol Moran Kenya, Gente del continente Vero”. All my friends and spectators agreed that I needed to pursue with photography.
